So you ask What is a landing page? Well in Affiliate Marketing it means the page which you usually create between the advertisement and the merchant's selling page (the merchant's selling page is also a landing page but for the most part you do not want to direct link to it solely) . Rather then just linking directly to the offer it is highly suggested you build out a landing page which helps you build the domains value further and the best part is it gives you a chance to presell the actual product (this alone can boost dramastically).

Below are some more reasons why not to direct link.

Merchant Offers Need A Landing Page

For some offers with certain networks they require you build out a landing page and do not even give you an option to direct link (places like neverblue ads makes you build out landing pages, but the offers they have it is well worth the hassle). This is done so they don't have their servers bogged down with floods of traffic, or to save their business' reputation from shady ad copy ( ad pitch associated to get people on the landing page).


Conversion Rates Improve

Alot of times you will notice that creating a good landing page with your point of view why people should buy the product will help conversions alot. This is your chance to presell the product in a way the landing page does not, using review style landing pages and blog style landing pages are really powerful. The percentage of people that click on your ad that end up signing up for the offer ends up increasing from 1% to 4%. This is why in alot of cases landing pages are obviously very crucial to conversions, but remember not all offers are better off with a landing page , some offers are better direct linking.

More indepth landing pages give you an option of advertising multiple affiliate offers on your landing page. Some people make review style sites, where they would have reviews" of 5 different similar products from different affiliate networks. They are also known to persuade the customer into buying more then one of the product. This can really imcrease your profits if you do it properly and maintain integrity between your landing page and the customer, they will see your page as a form of valuable information and take any advice you give.


Building Your Landing Pages

Most people do not have the time or know how when it comes to building landing pages. If you want to build a landing page, you either do it yourself, or pay someone to do it. If you do it yourself I do not advise copyritting other peoples landing pages word for word, though you can use them for inspiration towards the design you want and even use some pictures etc.
